Wednesday: Table for Two

It's Wednesday, my dudes.

With just a pair of concepts on the docket, it leaves me time to fill you all in on what's going on on the blog this week.

First up is the regular COTW vote which pits yours truly up against Jordan R. in an NHL battle between the Panthers and Coyotes. There certainly two strong concepts. That being said, I know who I'm voting for...

The Predators Competition vote also wraps up on Friday, giving you your second chance to exercise your civic duty and vote for one of my concpets this week. There's a lot of good stuff in there, so definitely spend the time to take a look.

Last, but not least, keep your eyes and ears open for the HJC podcast, our latest episode went live yesterday, so be sure to give her a listen.

REMINDERS:

COTW November 16-22 vote (ends Friday at 12pm ET)
Predators Top 3 vote (ends Friday at 12pm ET)
Jersey Nerds Podcast (new episode every Tuesday)

On to the concepts!

Mac W.- New Jersey Devils

Mac starts us off with a look for the Devils that looks quite similar to the Reebok set. Too similar. In fact, the only difference in the primaries appears to be the logos which in my mind are a downgrade. The notches added to the NJ break up the logo unnecessarily and rob it of its previous flow. The enlarged circle does little to help and swapping the color to black on the road creates far too dark a logo for a white background. The alternate, well nice, is a look us concept designers have seen quite a bit before and, while nice, has been done to the point of death at this point.

Overall Rating: 8.5/10
A look with little difference from what they Devils have worn before and what differences are there only seem to detract.

Taylor R.- New York Islanders
You want originality? You've got it! Taylor offers up a new look for the islanders with probably the most interesting yoke design I've ever seen. Both yokes look beautiful and I honestly can't decide which I like more. The collars leave a bit to be desired. I think I'd just match them to the yoke on both jerseys (think what Edmonton does currently). The only big negative I can see here is the bare hem, I know the pattern is pretty complicated on the arms, but the hem needs at least something. Especially on the home, where the jersey would blend into the pants as it currently stands

Overall Rating: 8.5/10
A unique new look for the Isles, but one that needs some tweaking before its ready to hit the seas.

That's all for today folks.

Since there's just two, I'll leave the COTW Nomination up to you guys this week. Throw your nomination in the comments below.
