Thursday: Class is in Session

Currently writing this instead of paying attention to this morning's Engineering Design lecture, so I'm gonna keep this short and sweet.

THE SEASON has now reached THE FINALS, so make sure to have your voice heard before voting ends at noon tomorrow and be sure to check back in for designer reveals on Saturday.

As always, we have our regular COTW vote, so throw a vote in there as well after you decide who gets your support in the final Season vote.

COTW March 9-15 vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)
The Season Final vote (ends Friday @ noon ET)

On to the concepts!

Lucas D.- Colorado Avalanche
Lucas starts us off by spoiling Ryan's fun, revealing here that he was the designer behind the Colorado Avalanche in the HJC Season competition.

 The Good:
  • Really like the striping layout here. The avalanche identity gives them a unique opportunity and, as they do know, they should always take advantage of that.
  • Number font is the best in Avalanche history in my opinion; looked great on the navy alternate and looks great here as well
The Bad:
  • Not too particularly fond of  the color changes here. The Avs current blue is much more unique and striking than the navy and light  blue adopted here
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
  • As i say on here more often than I'd like to, no concept is complete without a rear view
  • Nor is one complete without equipment
Overall Rating: 7.0/10
Pretty solid look for the Avs, though I wouldn't consider it an update over what they have now. Also, tough to imagine it in practice without a look at the full set.

Mitch S.- Toronto Blue Jays (MLB)
The Good:
  • Crossover concepts are always appreciated as they bring a bit more flavor to the set
  • Angled striping would give the jays a unique look
  • Logo choice works well here
The Bad:
  • With the striping set up the way it is, there's a real missed opportunity of using the Jays' current numbering here, would match the striping nicely and maintain the Jays' unique look
  • Never been a fan of the Jays in red. They may be Canada's team, but they are the BLUE Jays after all.
  • Think the collar would be better in all white rather than with the split blue sections up front
The Ugly (Execution Issues):
  • Just as before, no set is complete without equipment
Overall Rating: 5.5/10
Like a said, a crossover concept always brings some new flavor to the set. Unfortunately, this one isn't particularly palatable.

TC Moore.- Team Snoopy
The Good:
  • Speaking of extra flavor, here's a beautifully unique set to grace your pupils this Thursday afternoon
  • Can't help but look at this and immediately here Schroeder jamming on the piano in my head
  • Charlie brown striping pattern looks great here. Works surprisingly effectively on a hockey jersey
  • Font on both the name and number is beautiful as well
  • Simple collar also fits really well. Great example of making the best of what Adidas has to offer
The Bad:
  • Logo choice is a bit concerning... Can't help but feel sorry for Charlie Brown's dismembered head. Between the shoulders and pants, there's now three headless Charlie Browns wandering about the wilderness somewhere
Overall Rating: 9.25/10
0.25 points off for every headless Charlie Brown out there. Other than that, a beautiful concept and my COTW Nomination.

Got Questions? Send 'em our way by stuffing the HJC Mailbag.
