Saturday: The Season Week 1

Here's the part of the post where I get to voice my opinion. Understandably you may not care at all to hear what I want to say. If that is the case, please proceed directly to the Minnesota Wild concept below.

The United States, those who voted, and their voting system have selected Donald Trump to be the next President and it didn't shock me, but it did make me sad. It makes me sad because I thought most people in this world understood that racism, prejudice, and bigotry were just not acceptable in 2016. As far as the United States is concerned, that just isn't factual. I'm not naive enough to believe that those things don't exist in every other country around the world, but I never thought that those ideals would ever get someone elected to a position of great power in the modern world.

I understand that the two prominent choices presented to Americans this election were just plain terrible...disgusting even. However, Mr. Trump's racism, prejudice, and bigotry should outweigh all of his other political policies no matter how valid they may seem. Even if he were to abolish taxes, force wages to increase, and provide free health care for all, his racist and prejudice views are inaccurate, ignorant, and inexcusable. One heavily outweighs the other and it's the latter statement.

There are two groups of people who you should throw blame at. The first group are the racists and the bigots who voted for the evil views that they share with Mr. Trump. Evil now has a voice in this world. A loud and powerful voice, and that's sad. The second group are the near half of Americans who didn't vote. Their inactivity may have spoken volumes above those racists and bigots that did make an effort to vote.

Where this world goes in the next 4-8 years is now a crapshoot. As a Canadian I'm not terribly worried about myself or my home country, as I still firmly believe we as a society that rightfully rejects those evil views. But I do feel for those Americans that voted against evil and yet they will now be forced to pick up the pieces from this mess once Mr. Trump's time as President has come to an end. Will these people or America as a country ever be able to recover from the damage that I believe Mr. Trump will cause?

Naturally my opinion will cause you to voice your opinion and that is welcome. However aggressive and poorly thought out comments will not be published. So think carefully before you type. Thanks.

The winner of the COTW vote for October 28 to November 3 was Friday's writer Steven G!

Full Results

Steven's double Wild concept moves into the COTW-October vote. I really love that half green and half red concept. And the set based on their current jerseys is pretty sweet.

All five of October's COTW winners are in and that allows us to carry forth with our COTW-October vote. These are five great concepts and that makes the choice really tough. Those logged into their Google accounts can vote in the red poll on the side of the page. Votes will be counted until Friday at noon Eastern. You can see the concepts by clicking the link in the poll or by going to the COTY 2016 page.

The COTW nominees for the week of November 4-10 have been listed on the side of the page. If you're logged into a Google account you will see that black banner and you can place your vote. Last week the Winter Classic jerseys leaked and I asked your opinion of them together as a set via the Weekly Poll. Here are the results:

Thumbs in the middle was the most popular answer. Another way you could look at the results is that 82% of voters didn't think the jerseys sucked. I was a thumbs in the middle vote as I think these jerseys along with the outdoor games have lost some of their excitement.

Division B

Division C

Ryan... Just remember 2 things. The popular vote here went to Clinton. The majority did not vote for Trump. And #2 the citizens do NOT elect presidents in the US. The electors of the electoral college chooses and that isnt till mid Dec. Most ppl here dont even realize that but no we do not elect presidents here, not directly... Oh and the electors can vote any way they choose. Most ppl dont realize that either

Ryan, what would you do to make Outdoor jerseys interesting (granted we haven't seen this year's stadium series jerseys and if we get the leaked chrome Centennial classic jerseys instead of the Arenas one then that's just a shame)? I'm with ya that these jerseys are disappointing (particularly Chicago, not to call it bad) and while Montréal's jerseys are an exception, the last 2 have been pretty bland considering how good 2014 was

2 things Ryan:

1: What happened to the no politics thing?
2: Can we take over the Caps if we already have a team?
